Rumours have abounded for several years now about the demise of the venerable Defender in it’s present form but if the latest story to appear in the press is true it looks like 2015 will see the final Defender rolling off the production line at Solihull. The full article can be read here It’ll be interesting to see what Land… Read more »
I’ve been after this cargo net for ages. It’s a very useful net that serves a couple of functions: – I wasn’t willing to pay the £60+ that is generally demanded for LR003852. I think the price these things retail at is a bit unreasonable and £30 is closer to the mark. Anyhow I spotted on on eBay and managed to bag… Read more »
Today is our 5th birthday! Both Ian and I have been posting for that long! Seems like only yesterday since we started this little folly way back then. Here’s our first post: – Things have changed quite a lot since then. We have a nice shiny new look and the GLR fleet has changed. Anyhow enough of the nostalgia, it’s… Read more »
The first MOT for the GLR Freelander has come around. It’s due on 20/06/13 but I always like to get it done early! I was quite concerned that it could fail based on the issues that are due to be fixed by Stratstone next week. However Terry from our favourite indie Land Rover garage Ultimate Land Rover picked it up this… Read more »
I purchased my Freelander 2 from Guy Salmon in Wakefield last August. I’ve had 10 months of fairly trouble free motoring and other than a problem I had with the sunroof everything has been fine. Over the last week or so, I’ve noticed a few problems with the vehicle: – Tailgate release switch doesn’t work. Have to use the key… Read more »
Not really a Land Rover article per se but here at GLR Towers, we like Macs. ModChop has a rather nice iMac and I use a MacBook Pro. I first used a Macintosh for a brief spell back in 1987 when I started on a Youth Training Scheme. However I used mostly DOS/Windows machines since then. Back in 2011 I bought… Read more »
If you’re a regular reader here one thing will probably be all too apparent, we like our tea at GLR towers! I can’t think of any trips we’ve done, be that shows, camping, greenlaning or just out for a drive where at some stage during the trip we haven’t pulled over and dragged the ‘brew box’ out of the boot… Read more »
According to an article published by Autocar today Land Rover is intending to drop the Freelander name when the new model is launched late next year. Speculation is that the Freelander will join the Discovery ‘family’ to streamline the model lineage, it’s also expected that the new model will be based on an elongated Evoque platform. The Freelander name hasn’t… Read more »
Here at GLR towers we love aircraft! When the chance to see the BBMF Spitfire & Lancaster at Derwent reservoir presented itself, we couldn’t resist! The occasion was the 70th anniversary of ‘Operation Chastise‘. As usual we spent quite a while planning (dithering) on how we would mount our campaign. An early start was in order so we decided such a… Read more »
The GLR team are thinking of having a stall at one of this years up-coming Land Rover shows. Between us we have quite a collection of Land Rover literature, parts and also some outdoor & military items that are usually of interest to us Land Rover types. So to the question; if you could or indeed will be attending only… Read more »
